Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi
Upon arrival in the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by Vietnam Land tour’s guide and taken to the hotel for check in. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi City Tour (B, L)
Today you will spend all day to explore the city. The first place of the city tour today is Ho Chi Minh Complex– an important historical attraction in Hanoi; Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt house where the leader Ho Chi Minh spent the last part of his life, the Presidential palace and Ho Chi Minh Museum.
After that, we continue to move to Temple of Literature which reveals the Hanoians’ spirit of study in the past. This was also the first university in Vietnam.
Lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch we drive to visit to the Museum of Ethnology– the largest and most interesting museums in Hanoi where artifacts about 54 ethnic groups are well displayed. Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is worth a thorough visit, for those who are keen to learn about the multiculturalism of Vietnam and for those who would appreciate some green space.
Get back to the heart of Hanoi to see Ngoc Son Temple located in the middle of HoanKiem Lake- the picturesque heart of Hanoi. Take one hour cyclo tour to explore Hanoi Old Quarter to understand more about local life
Enjoy a water puppet show. Dinner is on your own arrangement. In the evening, transfer to the train station for a night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on train
Day 3: Hanoi – Hoa Lu – Tam Coc night train to Lao Cai (B, L)
8:00AM, pick up at your hotel and head out for NinhBinh (2 hours driving). There is a beautiful roadside scenery on the way. Arriving in NinhBinh city, first pay a visit to Hoa Lu – the ancient Royal Capital of Vietnam, visit the two temples: Temple of King Dinh and King Le, admire the unique architecture from ancient times.
Continue to Tam Coc and have lunch at a nice restaurant with many local delicacies. Then boarding a small sampan to visit Tam Coc which means literally “three caves” (2.5 hour boat trip). Tam Coc is also known as Halong Bay on land. You will feel the fresh air and peaceful moments, a very good opportunities for photo lovers, freezing the special moments and scenery.
Next stop is visit Bich Dong pagoda nearby and climb up the mountain to have a wonderful perspective view of the Bich Dong and Tam Coc. Return to Hanoi late afternoon. In the evening, you will be taken to the train station for night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on train
Day 4: Lao Cai – Sapa Hill tribe market (Breakfast, Lunch)
Early morning, we will arrive at Lao Cai and then move to a local restaurant to enjoy breakfast.
After that, we will visit the busy Bac Ha Sunday Market. In here, you will witness the diversify of goods that are traded here, the friendliness of the local trader and the how colorful this market can be. You will be able to buy a lot of things here such as clothes, crafts, accessories… You can also have a chance to understand more about the minorities here since most of the sellers are the locals from the area. Then you will have lunch at local restaurant and we will go towards to the place where used to be the Hmong’s King home then also visit Ban Pho to observe the process of making the local maize alcohol. In the afternoon we get back to Sapa to rest and stay overnight.
In the morning you will take a 50-mile trip through the scenic mountains to Can Cau (via Bac Ha) for its weekly market. Located amongst mountains and beautiful green forests, even though Can Cau market is smaller in size but it is very lively and exciting. Living in this area mainly is the Flower Hmong minority with their unique embroidered dress and head gear. You will have amazing times explore and get to know more about the rural life of the Hmong minority. Thanks to its remote location, the market is still largely untouched by tourism, preserving its local value. Then we get back to Bac Ha for lunch and hotel check-in.
Afternoon, go on a trek to Ban Pho village via the mountain path and visit home of the Flower Hmong. You already met these lovely people at the market, this time we will visit their homes and learn about their daily activities, customs and traditions. Overnight in Sapa
Early morning we will take a drive to Coc Ly (95 km, roughly 1h 45m from Sapa, or 60 km / 1 hour from Lao Cai). The market starts quite early (7 AM). Then you will have time explore the market, take a walk around, do some shopping or sightseeing, enjoy the atmosphere of the local minority life.
After finish discovering the market, we take another short drive to the Chayriver. Then sail along this gently flowing river, you will enjoy the beautiful view of corn and vegetable fields, lovely villages, magnificent waterfalls as you journey goes on.
Head to the town, check in hotel and relax. Dinner is on your own.
Day 5: Lao Chai – Ta Van – Giang Ta Chai night train back to Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch)
Depart from Sapa town by car to Lao Chai village, following the road down the hill. Views of the MuongHoa valley and magnificent surroundings of mountains and rice terrace fields can be seen from this road. Along the road, people from many ethnic groups (H’mong, Zay, and Red Dao) are likely to be met, and there are stalls along the way that serve tea, fruits and sweets. Soon after turning off the main road and taking a local path, we will arrive in the BlackH’mong village of Lao Chai, where you will experience the daily life of the villagers.After that, we walk from Lao Chai to Ta Van village, where the Zay hill tribes live. Here you take a rest and enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by your local guide in a local house. After lunch you trek up and downhill. Specially you will trek through bamboo forest then relax beside the waterfall. Explore the Red Dao village of Giang Ta Chai where you will also have the chance to see their daily activities. In the afternoon the car will pick you up for the return journey to the train station for a night train back to Hanoi.
Day 6: Hanoi – Halong Bay (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we will leave Hanoi for Halong Bay, one of UNESCO World Heritage site with its 2000 islands located in a background of limestone in Gulf of Tonkin. Coming to Halong, you will be impressed with the beauty of natural achievement and many wonderful types of scenery.
You will enjoy an overnight cruise on a wonderful boat floating on Halong Bay and savouring special menu of fresh seafood will absolutely bring you the best moment you have ever had.
You will be served with lunch and dinner on boat. Overnight onboard.
Day 7: Halong Bay – Hanoi (B, L)
If you are interested doing Tai Chi in the early morning, just get up and follow the Tai Chi class and enjoy the atmosphere and watch sunrise. Enjoy breakfast on board as the ship sails through the bay for an exploration of more remote areas. Around midday, back to the vessel and return to the main wharf for a transfer back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 8: Hanoi depart (B)
You are free and easy till transfer to the airport for the departure flight. Service ends.
